Description
Townsend is a detached house dating from the early 19th century. It is built from roughly cut and squared ham stone and features a double Roman clay tiled roof with high stepped coped gables that suggest it may have originally had thatch. The house has brick end chimney stacks and is two storeys high with three bays. The windows are horizontal-bar casements, with three-light windows in the outer bays and a two-light window in the upper centre bay. The ground floor windows have keystoned lintels. In the lower bay two, there is a six-panel door with toplights set in a moulded frame, topped by a timber hood supported by wrought-iron brackets. The east gable has a rectangular-leaded casement, while the west gable features a nine-pane sash window and a three-light casement. There is a single-storey extension at the rear, in the south-east corner. The interior has not been seen.
