Description
Rockfield House is a country house built around 1805 by John Pinch of Bath. It is constructed from Doulting ashlar stone and features a moulded cornice with a parapet and a slate hipped roof. The house has a "U" plan and is designed in a classical style, standing two storeys high with a facade that has a layout of 1:2:1 bays. The central bays form a full-height semi-circular bow, and the ground floor side windows are set in shallow semi-circular headed recesses. All the windows are sash windows with glazing bars. There is a brick wing, built around 1900, that has two bays and is positioned at right angles to the main facade, with the entrance located at the rear. At the back of the house, there is a yard containing service buildings, including a dairy, coach house, and stables. The interior features original fireplaces, plasterwork, and a staircase.
