Description

This is an imposing early 19th-century stucco building located on an island site at the west end of East Street. The north front has a slightly curved design, accentuated by pilasters and horizontal bands. It features a moulded cornice and parapet. The front curves at both ends, with the eastern curve forming a four-story bow window. A delicate wrought-iron balcony returns around the curved end and is supported by brackets above the shop window of No. 6. The building contains ten sash windows, most of which have glazing bars. Later shop fronts have been added. The building is part of a significant group with properties including No. 1A Billet Street, No. 66, the County Hotel, the Brendon Bar, and No. 8 East Street, all contributing to the character of Cheapside, Fore Street, and the Parade.
