Description

Two houses, dating from the 17th and 19th centuries. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a steeply pitched pantile roof that continues forward to connect with the adjacent buildings at numbers 58 and 60. The roof has stepped stone coping with a moulded kneeler to the right-hand (west) gable end, and a brick stack on the left. The original 17th-century block is single-depth, with a 19th-century wing extending to the rear which contains number 54. The front faces the street with a single window, and a double door to the left (east), serving entrances to numbers 52, 54, 58, and 60. The first floor has a 20th-century four-light casement window, while the ground floor retains a 17th-century four-light window with fixed panes, set within a label mould. A 19th-century block to the rear of number 54 has 20th-century doors and windows. The interior has not been inspected.
