Description
The Laurels is a house likely built in the 18th century, with some modifications from the 19th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, topped with a clay pantiled roof featuring stepped coped gables and brick chimney stacks at each end. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The upper level features two-light small pane casement windows of an earlier style, while the lower outer bays have 12-pane sash windows, all of which are set beneath dovetailed stone lintels. The central entrance has a 20th-century part-glazed door in a plain opening. Although the interior has not been seen, there are front boundary railings located 2 metres east of the house, enclosing a small garden. These railings are made of wrought iron with simple square points and urn finials on the standards, and they are set on dwarf stone walls, with a matching gate. Together, these features contribute to the overall setting of the house.
