Description
Still Cottage is probably an early 19th-century cottage, originally composed of two separate dwellings. It is one of two cottages on North Street in Somerton labelled 'The Cottage' on Ordnance Survey maps. The cottage is constructed of roughly squared local lias stone with a double Roman clay tile roof and brick chimney stacks. The two storeys are arranged across four bays; bays 1 and 2 were originally narrower. It has sash windows of 12 panes, each set under a dovetailed stone lintol. A window is absent from the upper bay 2, and the lower bay 2 window occupies the position of a former doorway. A 4-panel door is set in a wood lattice porch with a hip lead roof, located between bays 3 and 4. The interior has not been inspected.
