Description
Jennings House is a semi-detached house dating from the 17th century. It is built of local lias stone that has been cut and squared, featuring painted ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with clay pantiles and has stepped coped gables, along with brick chimney stacks. The house has two storeys with attics and consists of three bays.
On the ground floor, there are pairs of 8-pane sash windows located under label mouldings in the outer bays. Above these, there are three-light ovolo mould mullioned windows set in wave mould recesses under labels, with a matching two-light window positioned in the attic gables. The centre bay of the ground floor features a 12-pane sash window and a flush panelled door with a glazed toplight, which is set under a stone hood supported by simple brackets. There are no windows on the upper floor.
To the immediate east of the house, there is a matching stone boundary wall approximately 450mm high, topped with plain shaped copings. On this wall, cast iron railings about 600mm high with three-point finials are set. There is also a matching gate that features more elaborate fleurs-de-lys spikes on the gate standards, all of which contribute to the setting of the house.
