Description

Hopefield is a detached house built around 1770. It is constructed from local lias stone ashlar with Ham stone dressings and features a Welsh slate roof between coped gables, along with stone and brick chimney stacks. The house has two storeys and consists of four bays, with a single-bay extension to the west. It has a plinth, a continuous label over the ground floor windows, and cornice moulding for a secret gutter. The 8-pane sash windows are set flush and have timber architraves. The entrance is located in the added west bay, which is likely from the 19th century, and is accessed through a gabled porch on the southwest corner that contains a six-panelled door. The interior has not been seen, but the Victoria County History suggests that this building may have originally been a converted outbuilding to the adjacent Donisthorpe.
