Description
The Penny Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, just 1 metre south of the tower of the Church of St Mary. It dates from the 18th century and is made of Keinton and Doulting stone. The base is buried, and the sides and flanks consist of plain slabs with fluted corner pilasters. It features a deep cornice coving and a shallow hipped top. The panels have incised decorations that commemorate Susanna, the daughter of Richard Penny, although no date is visible due to the decay of most of the panels.
