Description
Coxley Mill House is an early 19th-century house with an attached former water mill, situated on the east side of Mill Lane in Coxley Wick. The house is smooth rendered and colourwashed, featuring end pilasters, a parapet with coping, and a pantile roof with coped verges. Brick stacks are also present. The symmetrical front elevation has three bays, with 16-pane sash windows, stepped voussoirs, and a blank centre window on the first floor. The central doorway has a semi-circular head, an emphasised surround with key and impost blocks, a six-panelled door with the top two panels glazed, and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars.
To the right of the house is the former water mill, now used as a store and offices. It is constructed of rubble, with remnants of plaster and colourwash. The mill has two four-pane sash windows and a three-light casement, alongside a blocked segmental opening on the ground floor. Pigeon holes are visible on the right return. Twentieth-century additions to the property are not considered to be of special architectural interest.
A brick-walled forecourt is set before the house, with a dressed stone coping. A small central gate is flanked by rusticated ashlar gate piers topped with domed caps, and incorporates an ornamental wrought-iron gate.
