Description
This is an unidentified chest tomb from the 17th century, located about 20 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary in Stoke St Mary village. It is made of Ham stone and features a flat top with a moulded cornice. The tomb has two arcaded bays on the north and south sides, adorned with egg and dart moulding on the intrados, and single bays on the east and west sides. At the time of the survey in November 1984, the tomb was largely overgrown with ivy. It is inscribed clearly on all sides except the east, although no name or date is discernible, except for the name Thomas Pro(ctor?) at the west end.
