Description
The screen walling enclosing the lawn immediately south-east of North Perrott Manor House is likely from 1877, although one gate is dated 1909. It is constructed of Ham stone ashlar, with balusters made of artificial stone. The design features balustrading with a moulded plinth and top rail, square plan balusters set diagonally, and piers with lozenge panels. The corners and gateways are wider and topped with obelisk finials. At both ends of the south-east length, there are two semi-circular stone seats. This walling is an important part of the Manor House's setting and, if it is indeed from 1877, it represents an early use of artificial Ham stone in the area. The side walls are higher and have deep plinth walls, with gateways that include wrought iron gates, one of which is dated 1909.
