Description
The Old House is a detached house that was formerly the rectory. It dates from the 18th century and was modified in the 19th century. The building is constructed of ham stone ashlar and features Welsh slate roofs with stepped coped gables, along with brick and stone chimney stacks. The house has an 'L' plan and is two storeys high with attics, presenting a three-bay east elevation. It has a plinth, cornice, and a shallow parapet. The ground floor includes pairs of French doors, while the first floor features 12-pane sash windows with plain raised surrounds and 4-pane sidelights in the outer bays. The attic has segmental-arched lead-roofed dormers with casement windows in each bay.
On the north elevation, there are five bays, with the first three being part of a two-storey flat-roofed extension against the main gable, and the fourth and fifth bays forming a lower two-storey extension to the west. This elevation also has a plinth, band course, cornice, and parapet. Bays one and two contain 2-light windows with plain mullions and architraves, while bay three features an angled bay with a configuration of 1+2+1 lights. Between bays one and two, there is a doorway with Doric pilasters, an entablature, and a flat hood, leading to a six-panel door accessed by two steps. There are two windows on the east return. Bay four has a matching 2-light window above, and bay five has a small-pane casement. Projecting from the lower bay four is a single-storey wing with a plain roof. The interior has not been seen.
