Description
The screen walling enclosing the forecourt immediately northwest of North Perrott Manor House is likely from around 1877. It is constructed of Ham stone ashlar, while the balusters are made of artificial stone. The design features balustrading with a moulded plinth and top rail, square plan balusters set diagonally, and wide panelled piers with lozenge panels and obelisk finials at the central gateways in the northwest and northeast sections. On the southwest side, there is a one-metre-high ashlar wall with moulded coping that returns to the house, along with a gateway that has an architrave and an open pediment above. This walling is an important part of the setting of the Manor House. If it dates to 1877, it represents an early use of artificial Ham stone in the area; however, it may also date to around 1909, as the gates in the rear walling are dated to that year. The screen walling is included primarily for its group value with the Manor House.
