Description
No. 24 Chilkwell Street is a Grade II listed building, part of a short range of stone cottages built in 1838, originally in connection with a nearby tannery. The cottages are positioned at right angles to the road and are two storeys high, featuring a pantile roof with gable-end parapets and kneelers. The windows are two-light stone mullioned with Gothic tops and keystones, while the gable-end includes a three-light mullioned window. There are three doorways, each also adorned with keystones. The now-demolished No. 26 once had a tablet with the initials 'J.M. 1838'. Nos. 16 to 24 form a cohesive group.
