Jeane'S Farm House, Wall And Agricultural Building Abutting On West Front

Jeane's Farm House is a farmhouse from the 18th century, which has been refronted from an earlier dwelling. It features a red brick facade with rubble and cob, and the south gable end is roughcast with a large raking buttress. The roof is thatched, with a slate-covered lean-to addition set below the west gable end. There are brick stacks at the gable ends and a large brick stack rising from the kitchen outshut at the rear. The building is L-shaped and faces south, with outshots on the north and east fronts.

It has two storeys and is arranged in a 2:1 bay configuration. The windows are all casements filled with plate glass; the first floor has a 4-light wooden casement on the left, a 2-light on the right, and another 4-light in the re-entrant angle on the right. The ground floor features 4-light casements, with the left window having voussoirs that form a slightly pointed arch. The entrance is located in the second bay on the left, consisting of a 6-panel door with inserted upper lights, sheltered by a flat-roofed porch supported by thin Doric columns. The left return gable end has two small lights for the attic.

There is a wall abutting the west gable end that ramps down in front of the addition, continuing as a wall with brick coping and a square-headed doorway. A thatched roof, two-storey outbuilding is set parallel to the road, abutting the wall at the north gable end. This outbuilding has two 'S' and one 'X' iron ties on its unlit west front, and the north gable end features a square-headed loft opening and a segmental-headed doorway with brick dressings in chert random rubble. This outbuilding is a 19th-century rebuild that incorporates the wall of an earlier structure. The evolution of the farmhouse is unclear without an internal inspection.
