Description

Lipgate Farmhouse is a 19th-century farmhouse, dated 1814. It is constructed of local stone with Bath stone dressings and has a Welsh slate roof with stepped coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The main farmhouse is two storeys high and three bays wide. It features 12-pane sash windows with plain beaded ashlar surrounds, and a central six-panel door with a stone plaque above reading "H/WH 1814". A later extension is present on the South side, incorporating segmental-headed casement windows set at right angles to the original facade. To the North of the farmhouse is a lower two-storey farm building with plain doors and windows set under flat gauged stone arches. A loft door is located under the eaves. The buildings together form a good farm group. The interior was not inspected.
