Description

This is an early 19th-century farmhouse situated on Castle Lane in West Pennard. It is built of coursed and squared rubble with a slate roof, featuring coped verges and end stacks of ashlar. The symmetrical front facade has a regular arrangement of sixteen-pane sash windows set in shallow, cambered reveals. The central doorway is accessed via a shallow ashlar porch topped with a pedimented stone hood, and features a six-panelled door with glazed upper panels. A curving forecourt wall, constructed of squared lias stone with segmental freestone coping, encloses the front of the property. A central gate opening is defined by freestone jambs and an early 19th-century wrought-iron gate with scrolling decoration.
