Description
The gateway to the churchyard, located 15 metres north of the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, dates from the early 19th century. It features ham stone piers that are approximately 450 millimetres square and 1.25 metres high. The piers have a panelled design on two sides, topped with cinquefoil cusping. They are capped with pyramidal tops that include moulded undercoving. Above the gates is a wrought iron simple semi-circular arch overthrow, which has a holder for a lamp set into the caps. The gates themselves are made of square rods, standing about 900 millimetres high, and feature spear points on the middle rail and cast trefoil ornamentation at the tops. This gateway is significant for its contribution to the setting of the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.
