Description

This building, located at 2 Old Wells Road in Shepton Mallet, is a former pair of houses dating from around 1800. It is constructed of coursed stone rubble with squared stone rubble quoins. The roof is covered in slate and features a single gable stack made of squared stone at the eastern end. Each original house consists of two bays and two storeys, with six-over-six paned sash windows set in moulded stone architraves with stone cills. Each house also has a doorway with moulded stone architraves and triangular pediments supported by stone brackets. The eastern gable end has similar windows and openings on both the ground and first floors. Attached to the west is a later wing, now known as No. 4 Old Wells Road, which has been altered and is no longer considered of special architectural interest.
