Description

The Baul chest tomb, located in the churchyard 3 metres north of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary, is a Grade II listed structure dedicated to Christopher Baul and dated 1762. It is made of ashlar stone and features a chest design with scrolled corner pilasters. Each side has a central band adorned with relief carvings of skulls and angels. There are also oval plaques on either side, which bear inscriptions that have significantly deteriorated, with only the script on the south-west panel remaining legible. The tomb is topped with a hipped slab and has a moulded cornice.
