Description

Chapel Cottage is a former Baptist chapel and minister's house, now serving as a dwelling, with the chapel and school room repurposed as an agricultural store. The building features a datestone in the center of the frontage that reads "1836" and has undergone some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed from coursed and squared rubble with freestone dressings and has hipped slate roofs, giving it an austere appearance.

The chapel is two stories tall and has a two-bay central section flanked by lower wings, creating a 3:2 bay arrangement. The windows are sash types with cambered and segmental heads, complete with glazing bars and plain stone architraves that have emphasized keys, except for the casement windows in the dwelling which have plain architraves. The chapel has a central door with a cambered head that opens to a plank door, while the dwelling has a half-glazed door with a cambered head.

Inside the chapel, there is a galleried interior and a memorial, and the school room features a chimney-piece. The forecourt wall is made of rubble and ramps up on each side, topped with dressed coping. In the center, there is a section of spear-capped railings and gates, along with the remains of a wrought-iron standard lamp to the right. Part of the forecourt wall on the left has been demolished to create an opening to Chapel Cottage.
