Description

This field barn, dating from the 18th century, is located on the roadside opposite Chandlers Cottage. It features an attached shelter shed on each side and is constructed from coursed rubble with a pantiled gambrel roof and deep eaves. The barn is rectangular in plan and consists of five bays. The long east and west sides have an open "colonnade" of rubble piers that create two open shelters. Access to the barn is provided by paired plank doors with iron strap hinges, with the doorways positioned directly opposite each other. This structure is an unaltered example of the local style of agricultural building.
