Description

The churchyard cross, dating from the 15th century, is located in the churchyard south of the south porch of the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Chewton Mendip. It is made of dressed stone and has an octagonal shape. The cross stands on a base consisting of four steps, featuring a square socket with fillet moulding and chamfer. The shaft tapers upwards and is topped with a tabernacle head that includes carving, although much of the detail has been worn away over time.
