Description

This is a row of four houses, dating from the mid- to late 18th century. The construction consists of coursed and squared rubble stone with double-Roman tiled and slate roofs, and brick and rubble stacks. The row is divided into two sections: the left three houses are three storeys high and have nine- and twelve-pane sash windows set within moulded freestone architraves. The rightmost house, "The Old Post Office," is two storeys high, featuring sash windows within similar architraves on the first floor and a 19th-century canted bay window on the ground floor. There are four door openings, each framed by moulded stone architraves; three have cornice hoods supported by consoles. Numbers 1, 2, and 3 have six-panelled doors, some with replaced glass panels, while The Old Post Office has a late 19th-century six-panelled door.
