Description

The Withy boiler, now disused, dates from the early 20th century. It features a red brick casing in English bond surrounding a circular metal boiler with an open top. At the west end, there is a brick chimney set square, which has a moulded plinth. The boiler casing includes a blocked opening at ground level to the right and a small blocked opening in the northeast corner. The circular face of the boiler at the east end rises above the brick casing, which is 16 courses high, and there is a circular stoke hole. This structure is a well-preserved example of a circular type withy boiler, believed to have been built in the late 1930s.
