Description

This is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is built with roughcast over a cob or rubble stone base, and has a plain tile roof that is hipped on the left side. A rendered rubble stack is located on the front of the building. The original plan consisted of two units, with an entrance on the right side of the stack, and a hall bay on the upper left end. The lower end of the house was likely removed to make space for the adjacent property at No. 3. A single-storey lean-to has been added to the left. The house is two stories high, with a two-window front. To the right of the stack, the roof slopes down over a single-storey entrance featuring a 20th-century door and a hood supported by 18th-century wrought-iron brackets. The lateral stack is offset and gabled into the roof above the first-floor level. The hall bay on the left has a 19th-century three-light casement window with small panes on both floors. The original parlour range is set further back, with similar windows. The ground floor window of the parlour range projects, forming a 19th-century bay with a lean-to tiled roof that adjoins the central gabled range. The interior has not been inspected. A 20th-century rear wing, No. 1A, is not part of the listed building.
