Description

This barn, located 25 meters east of Manor Farmhouse, dates back to the 15th or 16th century and is now used as a wood store, though it is currently unused. It is constructed from rubble Doulting stone and features a gabled roof covered with triple Roman clay tiles. A central ashlar stone chimney stack with a moulded cap is positioned on the right-hand (north) gable. The barn is two storeys high, with one room on each level, the first of which is accessed by external stone steps.

On the ground floor, there is a stone mullioned and transomed window with recessed chamfer moulding, splayed reveals, a drip mould, and a semi-circular stone relieving arch above. The drip mould extends to the left and continues over a blocked entrance door. The ground floor also has stone paving, plastered walls, and a notable Doulting stone fireplace surround featuring a moulded flat arch and stop-chamfered mouldings on the jambs.

The first floor contains a three-light stone mullion window with recessed chamfer moulding and a drip mould. There is another fine Doulting stone fireplace surround on this level, similar to that on the ground floor but smaller and with a moulded overmantel in place. The roof is supported by two "A" frame trusses, which show evidence of timbers that have been reused from another structure.
