Description
The dovecote, which is about 28 metres north-west of Priory Farmhouse, is of medieval origin and was rebuilt in 1925, except for the steps. It is constructed from squared and coursed blue lias and features a conical thatched roof. The structure is circular in plan and is situated on a site that slopes away to the north-west. The dovecote has two storeys and includes a two-light unglazed mullioned opening to the right of the first-floor entrance, which is accessed by a flight of approximately 10 steps with a wall on the east side. The ground floor has a small plank door entrance to the left of the steps, which is lit from the north side. This dovecote is all that remains of the Benedictine Priory that was adjacent to St. Andrews Church and is primarily listed for its historic interest.
