LYDFORD-ON-FOSSE CP HIGH STREET (West side) WEST LYDFORD Unknown monument in the churchyard 14 metres south of chancel of Church of St. Peter

Chest tomb. C17 Dressed lias and Ham stone. Classic oblong chest on a moulded plinth; (plinth buried at time of re-survey, August 1984); chest with elaborate scroll decoration to east and west ends; that to east end surrounding a clover-roof cross, that to west end a blank oval panel; south side with fluted end pilasters, north side with end pilasters with cherubic heads in relief; a lias panel inset between each pair of pilasters, that to north with the remains of an inscription. Hipped slab top cavetto moulded around its lower edge.
