Description
Laurel House is a house that has been divided into two dwellings. It features some elements from the 15th century but was rebuilt in the late 16th or early 17th century and refronted in the late 19th century. The exterior is rendered and colourwashed, topped with a triple Roman tile roof that has a coped verge to the right, which includes a base for a finial, and two brick ridge stacks. The building is two storeys high and has three bays with sash windows that have marginal glazing bars set in dressed stone surrounds. There are two door openings: on the left, a half-glazed door with a half-glazed gabled porch, and on the right, a flush panelled door in a dressed stone surround. Inside, the centre room contains a piscina with a moulded two-centred head stone surround. This room also features two door openings and has two cross-beam ceilings on the ground floor, with the right ceiling adorned with plaster enrichment that includes obscured figures of cherubs. There is a winder staircase and two doors made from re-used 17th-century panelling, one of which has cock's head hinges.
