ST51236 KINGSDON CP COPPER BEECH ROAD (West side) 1/94 Kingsdon C of E Primary School and toilet block to south west, also pump to east -

GV II

School, opened 1872. Local lias stone cut and squared; plain clay tiled roof with bands of scallop tiles, saw tooth ridge, plain overhung gables; stone chimney stack. T-plan, with extension; single storey. North-east elevation 3 bays, of which bay 3 is a projecting gable, bays 1 and 2 are a lean-to against the main fabric: horizontal bar casement windows under stone lintels to lean-to; bay 3 has a segmental pointed arched window with 3-light traceried timber casement with trefoil heads to lights. South-east elevation has similar gable with a 4-light window, crowned with a timber bell turret with half-hipped cedar shingle roof. Interior not seen. About 4 metres south the separate toilet block, to match but with monopitch roofs, included for the completeness of the relatively unspoilt complex; also in the east angle of the school a cast iron pump with handle, about 300 mm from the building.
