Range Of Outbuildings About 15 Metres East Of Whitestaunton Manor

This range of outbuildings, located about 15 meters east of Whitestaunton Manor, includes stables and a coach house that has been converted to include a garage. The buildings date back to the 16th century, with alterations including refenestration in the 17th century and significant changes in the late 19th century, when they were mainly refenestrated and enlarged. Constructed from random rubble local stone, the roofs are covered with slate, featuring a hipped roof at the north gable end and an independently roofed section to the south, along with a steeply pitched mansard block. A small brick stack rises from the eaves at the northeast corner.

The layout runs parallel to the east front of Whitestaunton Manor, with the stables range connected to a detached block by a churchyard wall. The building is two storeys high and has a façade with a pattern of 2:5:2 bays. The first floor features late 19th-century two-light, multi-paned casement windows, while the ground floor has window openings beneath hoodmoulds. There is a single light window on the left, a three-light stone mullioned window to the left of a 16th-century doorway with a depressed Tudor arch head, a four-light stone mullioned window, and a depressed ogee-head doorway. Additionally, there are two 19th-century double doorways with cambered heads and a three-light stone mullioned window in the right end bay.

The rear elevation faces the churchyard of the Church of St Andrew and is unlit, featuring a blocked 17th-century moulded arch head opening with a keystone at the center of the main block. The wall of the northern two bays is set back slightly, with a lean-to addition by the stack. The interior has not been seen.
