Description
A range of outbuildings located about 20 meters south-east of Worthy Manor, possibly dating from the 17th century, was extended in the early 20th century by C F A Voysey. The buildings are constructed from local stone random rubble, with a roughcast finish on the dwelling end. They consist of three independently roofed blocks set into a sloping site. The lower end features thatch, while the central block has a steeply pitched West Somerset slate roof, and the higher south-west end has a similar roof with a bell-cast and a large roughcast stack.
The layout includes a chauffeur's cottage with a garage that adjoins the loft of the stables, with a barn situated beyond. The south-west gable end features two-light, multi-paned casements, with similar windows below to the right of the double garage doors. The long south-east front is unlit, with a projecting full-height bay on the left, a two-light casement window below the eaves on the right, and a plank door leading to the loft, which is accessed by an external flight of wooden steps supported by a shaped bracket. There is a hipped dormer window on the right, and the ground floor has two stable doors, one of which has been altered to a window. The barn beyond has double doors. The rear elevation is unlit. This picturesque group of buildings backs onto Worthy Manor.
