Description

Worthy Manor is a manor house dating from the 16th century, and possibly earlier. It has undergone extensive alterations, particularly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, possibly by C F A Voysey. The house is constructed of red sandstone, with random rubble and some roughcast rendering. It has a slate roof, hipped on the right side and extended as a catslide over the porch. Stone stacks rise from the eaves to the left of the porch, at the right gable end, and three stacks are present on the south-west return.

The building is two storeys and four bays. The windows are early 20th-century casements, mostly two-light, with a three-light window to the left of a projection next to a stack. A two-storey porch with a glazed opening to the left and a two-light casement at the end bay is present on the right. The ground floor features similar two- and three-light windows to the left of a cambered-head entrance to the porch, with a two-light casement to the right. A chamfered pointed arch door frame leads to a ribbed door. A three-bay left return has coped verges at the gable end.

The interior is reportedly characterised by plank and muntin screens, passage doorways with pointed arch wooden frames, chamfered beams with enriched stops, and an exposed collar beam roof. Historical references suggest information derived from previous listing records.
