Description
Swinbrook Manor House is a manor house dating from the 16th century, with alterations and additions made in the 18th century and further changes in the 20th century. The building is constructed from uncoursed rubble stone and features a complex stone slate roof with various stone stacks. It likely follows a double-ended hall-house plan and consists of a single storey and attic, with a central range of two bays flanked by two-storey cross-wings on either side.
The entrance includes a plank door with a lean-to porch on the left side of the central range, while a sash door is located to the right of the cross-wing on the right. There is a 20th-century porch with a plank door to the left of the cross-wing on the left. The windows display irregular fenestration of casements, except for a 20th-century two-light stone mullion and transom window to the right of the left cross-wing. The building features two gabled half-dormers at the center and cross-gables on the cross-wings. The left cross-wing is likely an 18th-century addition, also single storey and attic, with irregular casement windows. The interior has not been inspected but is expected to be of interest.
