Description
Lower Southtown House is an early 19th-century house constructed of Flemish bond red brick, featuring a hipped slate roof with wide eaves and two brick stacks. The building stands two storeys high and has a three-to-one bay arrangement, with 20-pane sash windows that have rubbed brick voussoirs. The door is centrally located within the left three bays and has a semi-circular headed surround with rubbed brick voussoirs, a three-panelled door, and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. A "tent" canopy verandah is present on the ground floor, supported by fluted cast-iron columns with decorative scrollwork. Inside, there is a coeval staircase with stick balusters, six-panelled doors, and window shutters on the ground floor.
