Description
Yew Cottage and Old House is a house, now divided into two homes, dating from the 15th or 16th century, with extensive alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior features render and roofs made of pantiles and triple Roman tiles, which have uneven eaves and ridges. Originally an open hall house, it was later modified into a three-unit and cross-passage house with a kitchen wing. The building has two storeys and is arranged in a 1:2:2:2 bay configuration, with the right side featuring a projecting wing beneath a front-facing gable. Most of the windows are 20th-century two and three-light casements with glazing bars, although there are some 19th-century casements as well. There are two door openings for Yew Cottage: a 19th-century door to the left in a 20th-century pent-roofed outshut, and to the right, a plank door set in a moulded surround with a four-centred head. There is also a door opening to Old House on its right return. Inside, the south gable features a fireplace with a bressumer that has a decorative motif, along with a stud and panel screen.
