Description
River Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that was enlarged in the 20th century. It is constructed from whitewashed random rubble and concrete blocks, topped with a thatched roof and featuring brick stacks at the gable ends. The original plan consisted of two cells, but it has been expanded by one full-height bay on the right to include a garage. The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and has three bays. The 20th-century windows include gabled dormers at the eaves level and two-light casements, with a three-light leaded casement located to the left of the entrance. To the right of the entrance are garage doors, and a plank door is positioned right of center, sheltered by a thatched bonnet porch supported on brackets. The interior has not been viewed, but a photograph is available in the National Monuments Record.
