Description
The churchyard walls surrounding the Church of St Bartholomew are constructed of limestone rubble with some Ham Hill stone coping and date from the 19th century. The walls are divided into four sections: east, north-west, south-west, and south. The eastern section stretches for 100 meters and is notably high, featuring substantial coping. It sweeps down to the right into Church Street and steps down to the left for approximately 40 meters. This part includes well-crafted quoins and gate piers at the entrances to gardens. On the north side, the wall is attached to the Church Hall and curves at the north-west corner, leading to steps opposite the west door of the church, where a cast-iron bollard is located. This section has concrete capping. The wall on the west and south-west corners is made of coursed Ham Hill stone blocks, topped with vertical slabs on the west side and coping on the south-west side. The south side features soft, worn limestone rubble of varying heights.
