Description

This is a house dating from the mid-18th century, located in Crewkerne. The front facade is of incised stucco, while the rest of the building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble. The roof is a double-pitch design with stepped stone coping and brick stacks to the gable ends, the one on the right being a large external stack that is now truncated. The front roof is tiled, with lower courses of stone tile, while the rear roof has stone slates at the bottom and slate at the top.

The house has two storeys and a two-window front. All the windows on the front are 20th-century replacements: casements to the first floor and sashes to the ground floor. The front door, glazed at the top, is set within a porch constructed of a stone slab resting on slightly curved vertical stone slabs. A lower, rear wing extends from the main body of the house. A small window from around 1840 is visible on the left return. The rear of the house features 20th-century doors and windows.

Inside, a reconstructed open fire on the left is framed by an oak lintel. Two early 19th-century elliptical arches flank a former fireplace on the right.

The front garden is bounded by spearhead railings and a 20th-century gate beneath a small overthrow with an integral hook. An attached limestone rubble wall along the rear left boundary marks the south edge of the churchyard.
