Description

Church Cottage is likely an 18th-century cottage, although it was modified in the 20th century. It is built of ham stone rubble with some ashlar dressings and has a thatched roof, with a stepped coped west gable and plain east side. Brick chimney stacks are present. The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. It features casement windows; a three-light small-pane window to the first floor with a timber lintol, and a large 24-pane casement to the ground floor in the first bay, also with a timber lintol under a flat arch with a voussoir detail. Further ground floor windows include two-light horizontal-bar casements with flat-arched heads, also with voussoirs details. A six-panel door with toplights, and an unmoulded label, sits in the lower bay of the third opening. A late 20th-century garage attached to the east gable is not of architectural significance. The interior was not inspected. The cottage is listed primarily for its group value within an important part of the village.
