Description

This is a wall enclosing a rectangular garden, located about 100 metres north of Ford House. It dates from around 1799 and was partially renewed in the early 20th century. The wall is constructed of random rubble masonry with brick coping, and sections of the south and east walls are made of brick in garden wall bond. It stands approximately 3 metres high and features six different openings: a depressed arch with rusticated voussoirs on the east side, a similar round-headed arch on the south side, a square-headed opening on the north side, and other pointed arches. There is a variety of 19th-century wooden doors and a pair of cast iron gates on the east side. The gardens of Ford House were landscaped by the Exeter firm of Veitch in 1798.
