Description

Ford Farmhouse, dating from the late 16th century, has undergone alterations in the early 19th century and the 20th century. It is now divided. The farmhouse comprises a cross wing to the left and an L-shaped plan with a 19th-century service wing projecting forward and an attached malthouse to the right. The left wing is rendered with painted rubble, while the roof is slate-covered, and there are brick stacks. The building has two storeys and a 1:1:3:1 bay arrangement; it features 20th-century casement windows. The entrance is located to the right of the centre, accessed through a lead-canopied porch with decorative wrought ironwork. An outshut is attached at the rear.

Inside, a plank and muntin screen is located to the right of the cross passage, featuring a square-headed moulded door frame similar to the backdoor of the cross passage. A round-headed arch provides access to a corridor, and there is an early 19th-century staircase along the rear elevation. A three-bay arcade is on the first-floor landing, and a fine moulded wooden panel ceiling is found to the left of the cross passage.
