Description

Ilford Bridge is a road bridge, likely built in the 18th century. It features roughly cut and squared ham stone with ashlar parapets. The bridge has two slightly pointed segmental arches, along with a segmental-arched band course and plain parapets that lack copings. The north parapet is inscribed on the roadside with the words 'Ilford Bridge'. There are slight pilasters at each corner and angled cutwaters on the south side. The bridge is maintained by the Ilminster Trust, which turnpiked the road from Curry Rivel to Chard via Ilminster in 1759.
