Description

Westfield Cottage is a detached cottage, largely dating from the 18th century with 19th-century alterations, situated on Queen Street in Tintinhull. The construction incorporates roughly squared and coursed Ham stone, with a projecting wing built with Flemish-bond brickwork, and the front is colourwashed. The roof is thatched with a coped south gable, and an abutment to the north. A brick and concrete block chimney stack is present. The cottage has a ‘T’ plan, consisting of a single storey with an attic, three bays in total, where the central bay is a projection. The windows are horizontal-bar casements. Bay 1 has a two-light window below a three-light window above, both beneath stone lintels, the upper window being set within a coped gabled dormer. Bay 2 features three windows of differing proportions, all under timber lintels, and Bay 3 has a two-light window under a long timber lintel. A farm building abuts the north gable and is now topped with a hipped corrugated iron sheet roof. It contains a wide door in a heavy frame and a three-light casement, partially blocked, with a dormer window in the north hip. The south gable of the cottage has a blocked doorway and an attic window. The interior was not inspected during the listing assessment.
