Description

This is a late 18th-century farmhouse, located on the south side of Main Street in Babcary. The building is constructed of local lias stone, cut and squared, with a thatched roof featuring stepped coping on the east gable. Brick chimney stacks are also present. The farmhouse has an L-shaped layout, two storeys, and three bays on the road elevation, with an irregular fenestration pattern. The windows are sash windows with 16 panes, although the lower windows are replacements in a Regency style. The lower bay to the right has a Regency-style door with a margined fanlight under a timber lintol. A single-storey extension with a double Roman clay tile roof adjoins the east gable. A matching return wing on the south side is colourwashed and extends into a barn at the rear, which has a corrugated iron roof. The interior has not been inspected.
