Description

Percy House is a detached house dating from the early 19th century, with later 19th-century extensions. Constructed of local grey lias stone, cut and squared, it has a Welsh slate roof of a shallow pitch with stepped coped gables, a cross finial to the north gable, and briar chimney stacks. The two-story west elevation has four bays, with the first bay appearing to be an addition. This bay features a 6-pane sash window and a 6-flush panel door set beneath a margined and diamond-glazed fanlight, sheltered by a timber hood supported on iron scroll brackets. The remaining bays incorporate 16-pane sash windows with voussoired flat heads within plain openings. Lower bay three has a 6-flush panel door set in a semi-circular arched recess with a Regency-style fanlight, the opening defined by single stone slab jambs, impost blocks, and a rustic arch. A small 20th-century extension sits on the east flank. The interior remains unseen. It is believed the house may have functioned as a school and school house during the 19th century.
