Description
Deanbottom Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a datestone indicating it was built in 1685, although it has undergone alterations in the 19th century. The building is constructed of rubble and features a double-Roman tiled roof, with brick stacks that rest on large rubble bases and project to the rear. It stands two storeys high and consists of four bays. The windows include two and three-light stone-mullioned windows with ovolo moulding, a four-pane sash window on the right side of the first floor, and a 20th-century concrete-mullioned window to the left on the ground floor.
A prominent feature is the large two-storey ashlar porch, which has a two-light window on the first floor, set above a front-facing gable that includes a coping and a finial. There is a blank shield in relief above the outer door opening, and the inner doorway is fitted with a plank door. Inside, the farmhouse contains two large fireplaces, one featuring a wooden bressumer and the other with a stone lintel.
