House, now offices. c1770-1800. Flemish-bond brick, stone coping to parapet, cornice, painted stepped voussoirs, slate C20 steep-pitched mansard roof with dormers. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys with attic and basement; 3-window range to west facade facing King Square, 5-window range to north facade. The west facade has 6/6-pane sash windows to second floor, 6/6-pane sashes to first floor and 6/6-pane sashes to ground floor. The left return has flat gauged brick arches to blind windows flanking 6/6-pane sash windows with stepped voussoirs to upper floors above door. This may be later; a wide semicircular gauged brick arch of lighter-coloured brick has large fanlight with triangular panes to outer edge and radiating glazing bars to centre, narrow fixed lights to sides with recessed panels to door jambs, and double doors each with 3 raised panels. To left an 8/8-pane sash window and to far right a C20 door inserted into space of a bricked-up window. Late C19 rear extension is English-bond brick with flat gauged brick arch to C20 planked door to right of centre. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: pointed railings with urn finials front the basement area. The house is part of a fine late Georgian square built on the site of Bridgwater Castle.
